UNIPORT, GOOGLE UNIPORT TEAM

















In the quest to improve the quality of teaching and learning in African universities and other universities world wide, Google has decided to come down to various universities and make an impact in the lives of both staff and students through the use of various Google products. To this end Google selected Student Ambassadors across various universities across sub-saharan Africa. But this impact cannot be felt without you the student and that is the essence of this team.


WHAT IS "GOOGLE UNIPORT TEAM"?


It is a team of students who are passionate about IT and Google product in general.




WHAT IS THE AIM OF "GOOGLE UNIPORT TEAM"?


Support the Google Student Ambassadors(GSAs) in doing the following:
-To promote Google events on campus
-Training staff and students on how to use Google products.
-Promoting opportunities at Google to the students and staff.


WHAT WILL I GAIN AS A STUDENT BEEN PART OF  "GOOGLE UNIPORT TEAM" ?


-Get the chance to develop yourself outside the classroom.
-Be part of the team that will bring revolution to UNIPORT through Google.
-Get the chance to meet and work with other students across the world and develop your network of contacts.
-Get an opportunity to interact with Google staff and engineers(those that perform the magic behind the web)
-Develop working experiences and build your CV.

NOW AM INTERESTED...WHAT DO I NEED TO BE PART OF"GOOGLE UNIPORT TEAM" ?
-You just need only 3 things:
       -Passion about Google products.
       -Passion to develop the UNIPORT.
       -Passion to develop yourself.


WHAT DOES THE GOOGLE UNIPORT TEAM STRUCTURE LOOK LIKE?
-It is made of basically 3 sub-teams:
           G-UNIPORT Events Team.
           Google Developers Group.
           G-UNIPORT Mapping Team.









G-UNIPORT Events Team: These set of students will help the Google Student Ambassadors plan and organize various Google events on campus ranging from trainings, to product promos, product lunches e.t.c.












Google Developers Group: These set of students will work on using Google APIs and online resources to develop softwares to solve some basic problems in the university and also participate at the annual "GOOGLE DEVELOPER CHALLENGE".









G-UNIPORT Mapping Team: These set of students will help the Google Students Ambassadors to adequately map the notable points of the university and its environs and put it on Google Maps.
